Candida - Pretty Name or
Major Health Problem?

Most of us, at some time or another, have heard of Tinea, Mouth Thrush, Vaginal Thrush, Ear infections, Sinusitis, Asthma, Pharyngitis, Colitis, Constipation, Diarrhoea, Flatulence, Halitosis, Intestinal cramps, Allergies, Alcoholism, low immune system, sore Throat, Fatigue, Anxiety, Depression, Headaches, Irritability, Meningitis, Gingivitis, Periodontal disease, Pre-Menstrual Syndrome (PMS), Vaginitis... the list goes on; but how many of us are aware that these complaints or symptoms can often be attributed to that well sounding name "Candida Albicans".

Speaking technically: "Thirty three percent of people in the western world suffer from Candida Albicans over-proliferation. When Candida Albicans Yeast is allowed to proliferate, it changes from its normal Yeast-Fungal form to a Mycelial-Fungal form that produces Rhizoids. These Rhizoids are long root-like components that are capable of piercing the walls of the Digestive Tract and break down the protective barriers between the Intestines and the Blood. This "breaking-through" the barrier allows many Allergens to enter blood circulation, causing allergic reactions. Even more detrimental when these Allergens break through the Blood-Brain barrier."(In-Tele-Health © 2003 from Hyperhealth CD-ROM)

What then does this mean to us, in simple language? All of us have Candida Albicans, in the Mouth, Throat, Intestine and Genital/Urinary Tract, but usually in small amounts. After all, babies often suffer with mouth thrush and this is? You guessed it! Candida Albicans.

It is unfortunate indeed that most people are unaware of the seriousness of Candida proliferation and even more unfortunate, that many mainstream medical practitioners do not give it the required attention.

If we suffer any of the above complains or simply lack energy, it could be that we have an over-proliferation of Candida Albicans. Perhaps the first question we should ask our doctor is "can this condition be attributed to Candida?"

We should be cautious about treatments that may in fact add to our problems.

How often do we give a dying plant water, when it is actually drowning to death? Antibiotics, Ventolin, cortisone and other treatments, are just what the Candida ordered, to proliferate.

There are many simple precautions we can take to reduce our risk and, if the Candida has already a strong grip on us, there are relatively harmless but effective preparations available to combat it.

Maybe we should not allow this pretty sounding name to continue to run rife, simply because we don't talk about it. What do you think?
